I have never gone to the after party. What happens at the after party?
My wife is considering attending the after party, but she is not registered for the conference. I, however, am registered twice. Once as a regular attendee and once as a paying person. I am also a speaker at the conference.

There's also food (while supplies last), beer, and pop. And the folks from Notacon will be there to host geek game shows, provide music, and all kinds of other cool stuff.
It's mostly socializing, and
It's mostly socializing, and an opportunity to chat in greater depth with folks you met through the day. As a presenter, it's an opportunity for folks to pester you with questions you didn't answer in your session. ;)
I spent much of last year's after-party in the "suite", where I was introduced to the card game Fluxx. I may have to bring my deck with me, in order to make something of a tradition of out that game...
