LPI testing at the Ohio LinuxFest

LPI at OLF 2009

During Ohio LinuxFest be sure to take advantage of advancing your Linux and Open Source credentials by taking discounted LPI exams. The Linux Professional Institute [1] (LPI) is widely recognized as the world's leading Linux certification. " LPI, as a vendor-neutral non-profit organization, develops its world class exams through a global network of IT professionals, enterprise customers, and academic organizations.

Given the growing adoption of Open Source Software [2], a LPI certification will demonstrate to potential employers and customers your familiarity with open source solutions and your in-depth professional knowledge of Linux.

LPI will offer discounted paper-based tests at the Ohio LinuxFest on Sunday September 27th at 11:00 and 14:00 hrs. Room location at the Hyatt Regency Columbus "Clark" room, just like the BSDCert exam [3]. All LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 exams [4] will be offered at the discounted price of $99 each—a savings of over $60 per exam. Since seating is limited exam candidates should pre-register by emailing event (at) lpi.org and indicate their preferred time slot for taking the exams.

To assist exam candidates in preparing for the exam OLFU will be offering a full day "LPI exam cram" [5] with Steven Pritchard on Friday September 25, 2009. Steven is a long time volunteer with LPI and one of the authors of the popular O'Reilly book LPI Linux Certification in a Nutshell, 2nd Edition [6].

Bring the following with you to the testing site:

  1. Your LPI registration number. Get your registration number before the event online [7]
  2. Your Paypal receipt or payment: Payment can be made 15 minutes prior to the exam lab by cash or check. Checks should be made payable to "Linux Professional Institute". However, payment is preferred prior to the event by Paypal. Please contact events_at_lpi.org for details.
  3. At least one number 2 pencil with a functional eraser.
  4. Government issued photo identification.
