So, what is this disc all about?
You are reading this page because you received a GNU Linux Live DVD from an Ohio LinuxFest operative or a derivative.
It is boot-able media for x86-32 bit platform chocked full of free and open source software for your enjoyment. We hope that you will utilize this disc and share it with your friends.
Two variants have been distributed:
Fedora Live Beta 11 - Games Respin
Knoppix 5.3 DVD Edition, English language version
Here are some fun ways you can use this disc:
1. Instant LAN party!
a. Make a few copies and give it to your friends.
b. Setup a router with a DHCP server, a consumer grade wireless access point will do.
c. Invite your friends over to game with you. Everyone will boot off the the disc so that you will be sure that you have the same environment and games as everyone else.
2. Inspect hardware that you are considering purchasing to see it will work with your favorite Linux drivers. Be sure to ask the current owner or shop manager for permission first!
3. Demonstrate the value that Linux brings to the desktop experience to your associates. If they like it, let them keep the disc.
4. Take the plunge. Install Linux on the hard drive. If you need help installing Linux, contact a Linux user group in your community.
Safety Precautions:
* Back up personal data before installing any software onto your hard drive.
* Do NOT place this disc in the microwave. It will spark.
* Avoid mutilating the media. Do NOT fold. Broken discs can be sharp. If the disc is in pieces, properly dispose it while wearing gloves, goggles, and other personal protective clothing.
* Refrain from manipulating the data side of the media. Scratches and other damages will prevent you from utilizing the disc. Finger prints may be removed with a solvents such tap water.
* Frisbee Clause: This is not a flying disc or a pie pan.
Note: Throwing the disc could cause damage or injury to objects or persons in the way. The hole in the center makes this platter completely unacceptable for supporting fruit, cream, pudding, or other pie filling material. The disc itself is not edible. Seek medical attention if you have ingested the disc.
