Ohio LinuxFest 2010 Announces Keynote Speakers

The Ohio LinuxFest is excited to announce the 2010 keynote speakers:

Stormy Peters

and

Christopher "Monty" Montgomery

.

Stormy Peters, Executive Director of the GNOME Foundation, will be the morning keynote speaker.

Stormy Peters currently works as the Executive Director of the GNOME Foundation. Stormy joined the foundation from OpenLogic where she set up their OpenLogic Expert Community and helped Global 2000 companies develop open source software policies. Previously, Stormy worked at Hewlett-Packard (HP) where she founded and managed the Open Source Program Office that is responsible for HP’s open source strategy, policy and business practices.

Stormy is a frequent keynote speaker on business aspects of Open Source Software at major conferences such as the Open Source Business Conference and the O’Reilly conferences, as well as government organizations such as the United Nations and the European Union.

The evening keynote speaker will be Christopher (Monty) Montgomery, Open Source multimedia advocate and developer.

Monty is the creator of the open-source audio format Ogg Vorbis. Ogg Vorbis, well known as a best-in-class codec, is widely used by artists, independent media, and game developers.

He is also the founder of the Xiph.Org Foundation which develops and advocates Open Source multimedia formats as industry standards. He is currently a Senior Engineer at the Open Source software vendor Red Hat where he works on open desktop media software.

Monty has spoken at a variety of conferences about Open Source and multimedia, including SCaLE, FOMS and OpenLibre, as well as presented at the Library of Congress, VON, and the Future of Music Policy Summit.
